This research is based on frameworks in the cognitive psychology of temporal reasoning and the cinematic domain and draws from the theoretical model of stable and unstable states (Crépault 1983-1989-2003). Several studies were conducted on a population of children and adolescents (66 French and 200 Tibetan buddhists exiled in India) examining temporal reasoning from macro and micro-genetic perspectives. The paradigm consists of 2 tasks characterized by the spatialization of duration and the synchronized composition of a vibration movement with a translation movement. After situating the theoretical model of knowledge states based on pattern responses, the inferences used in the justifications collected from the individual protocols are analyzed as well as the transcribed arguments during interactions between two or four subjects. The results show quantitative and qualitative analyses of different response types both in the individual cases and the group interactions. Analysis of the French protocols over 5 repetitions, pre-tests and interactions, highlights the process used during a dyadic interaction. Justifications of 40 French subjects during the first individual test illustrates justification categories for 3 dimensions. These studies demonstrate the particularities of modes of reasoning for each group depending on age and cultural group. Qualitative analysis shows more precisely the "cognitive temperament" of each individual and verifies whether this concept is common among children and adolescents in general, when considering the genetic evolution from the theoretical reference model.
